Jürgen Heinemann:
Jürgen Heinemann was born in 1934 in Osnabrück, Germany. He studied photography with Otto Steinert in Saarbrücken and later at the Folkwangschule in Essen (1957-1962). (German photography received its strongest inspiration after 1948 from Otto Steinert. He made a name for himself through his exhibits in the international movement of subjective photography.)
Jürgen Heinemann worked as a successful freelance photographer for magazines and organisations for more than thirty years.
His work was honoured by the "World Press Award" (1963) and "Concorso Internazionale di Fotografia di Assisi" (1965) From 1981 until 1999 he had a professorship at the technical college in Bielefeld where he ran the department of photojournalism.
His book "américa" was published in 1992 and the exhibition with the same name was shown in 72 cities in Bolivia, Mexico and Brazil.
